As summer weekends go, this one wasn't a particularly "outdoorsy" one; cloudy, rainy skies put the kibosh on my barbecue plans for the season finale of Game of Thrones...but of all the weekends to not complain about a little inclement weather, this one's right up there at the top. The arrival of Hurricane Harvey has brought with it a mountain of hardships, and a reassuring amount of human effort in the face of those hardships. If any of you or your loved ones have been impacted by the disaster, I hope you're safe and well, and I hope you find encouragement in the way so many people have responded. Thoughts and prayers seem pretty cheap amidst all of this, I realize, but...well, I've seen a lot of hope amidst the despair. Be safe, be well, be hopeful.

Right! The comic continues!

This page was interesting to work on, and not just because it features a bicycle (which, if I've ever drawn one before, it sure has been a long time, because jeepers, that turned out to be a bigger challenge than expected for some reason). It's also a page where I leaned into a more conscious effort to incorporate lessons I've learned in moving the eye around the page, and how panels (and words) work in concert with each other and the visuals.

How successful that effort was, in technical terms, is for readers to judge, and in the end, it's really just an artist footnote :P

Off to an exciting new week of work! (he said, rolling his eyes)
