Halcyon Days of Yore by VanHeist

I present to you the finale of the remastered “Halcyon Girl” story arc from the Bomango tales of yore, made possible and made beautifully by the efforts of Jordan Haro (aka DeadTom22, aka Bard71) and Sandra Espinoza (aka @DustyOldRoses), and featuring Cris King (@CrisVODude) and Gen Sherard (@gennysherard). If you’ve been watching this series up to now, I don’t need to tell you how enjoyable it’s been, but the team really brings it home here in the finale.

The conclusion of this story is something I’ve hardly ever revisited since originally finishing it a few years ago. It has a few goofy moments here and there, but it’s an unusually direct and emotional series of moments that was kind of a stretch for me at the time, and I had mixed feelings about how raw it felt to me. In a comic that features a big, often obnoxiously raucous gal like Gogo and a fuzzy blue critter that says “Hams!” all the time, going “serious” to wrap up the storyline felt like more of a risk or even a potential disaster than it might have been.

So when I watched and listened to the final cut of this series, it was almost literally the first time I’d visited the story since I made it. Jordan and Sandra gave it such a punch as Andy and Gogo that it was hard to watch at times (in a good way). And Jordan directed it in such a way that brought out the atmosphere around the characters in a beautiful mix of sound and visual. It may not be as fun and silly as many of the episodes that lead to it, but it’s a masterfully done performance of a finale, and I’m thankful for it.

I hope you enjoy! And thanks again from the bottom of my heart to Jordan and Sandra for this amazing series. I’m so grateful for what you both have brought to Bomango :)

Holiday Specials! by VanHeist

It's that special time of year, and if you've found yourself foolin' around online and ended up here, enjoy some Bomango holiday hams of yesteryear!

Merry Christmas!

The “brief” hiatus since I updated the comic seems to have graduated from “brief” to “I’m getting the jitters from not posting anything”, so here’s a quick little teaser for what’s coming down the pipe:

The next scene is...sort of a different can of worms than the comic has seen so far. It’s also several pages long. This time, I wanted to try something different, and finish the entire sequence before dropping the whole thing into the reader’s lap. I realize this makes for a longer lull between updates, but if you’ll indulge me, I’d like to see how it works out.

So while I apologize for the delay in updating the comic, I can assure you that the waiting around won’t be for the sake of a single talky page (or page one of an action scene that’s spread out over a month or so...heh...).

Stay tuned!

Into the New by VanHeist

Hello, and happy new year!

At last, we find ourselves on the other side of the holiday season, and into a new year--an extremely cold one, here, just like last year at this time. I hope you had a pleasant season, celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yuletide, B'Glarroth'Mok, Festivus, or not celebrating anything but staying stubbornly alive in the face of the pitiless void.

As for myself, I spent a happy Christmas with family, a lazy New Year with a cold at my house, and in between those things, mostly sleeping and existing between holiday work shifts. It was a fairly complete holiday season, as these things go, but in terms of creating art, it was basically a drought.

But the season is over, and we move forward!

The holiday lull was brutal for languishing updates, and I apologize for that. One of my resolutions for this year is greater consistency (and predictability) in the update department. So over the next few days, I'll be working to do just that, and get things rolling again for the week ahead and beyond.

See you soon![img][/img][img]

As this year draws to a close, I am, as ever, truly thankful for your viewership, patronage, support, and good humor. I'm also immensely thankful for the talented work of Jordan, Sandra, and Choral for this piece, and for the work of Jordan, Sandra, Izzy Murray, and Massimo Silvestri for their part in bringing other Bomango comics and stories to life! From all of us at the Officially Unofficial Headquarters of Bomango, have a safe and happy holiday season, folks!

December Update! by VanHeist
December 19th, 2017, 10:14 am
Quick mid-December update:

Two things crystallized for me a day ago:

One was that, having finally watched Episode 7 of Star Wars on Saturday night, if I didn't see The Last Jedi on Sunday night, I wouldn't get much of a chance to do so until 2018, so I did. (It was immensely enjoyable, and overall I had a refreshingly Star Wars oriented weekend.)

The second was that I hadn't made enough progress on various things over the weekend to squeak in a Monday art/comic update today, and with 6 extra hours of overtime on the schedule at the ol' warehouse today (and more on the way between here and the holiday weekend), more updates aren't going to be easy to come by.

And so, to readers, followers, Patreon supporters, and disciples, if I have any, if you don't see any updates over the next week, never fear. This busy time of year WILL end, and when all the food, festivity, or irritatingly oversized work shifts are over and there's nothing to look forward to but the icy dead of Winter, I'll be there on the other side figuratively hammering away on more art and stories.

Of course, if I have the time and space to do so, I'll post more stuff before January, but for now, look to the New Year for a formal return to action. There's a boatload of new Patreon art, comic pages, and...well, probably a bunch of other stuff waiting to be unleashed. I'm sorry to ask you to wait for it, but those of you who are working their asses off at this crazy time of year are sure to understand, right?

So until then, we work, celebrate, and hopefully have the energy to do both, and once again, happy holidays to each and every one of you!
